Flush lighting meets LG7 ceiling-lighting requirements

A dark ceiling has been avoided in this building using flush-mounted Zumtobel Mellow luminaires.

The requirements for ceiling brightness impression of CIBSE’s LG7 lighting guide have been met without suspended luminaires using Zumtobel’s flush-mounted Mellow Light IV luminaires. Lighting standing out against the otherwise dull background of a ceiling can be distracting in the peripheral vision of people working in the area — a problem which is often solved using suspended lighting. The facilities team at St James’s Place Wealth Management wanted a very high level fit-out to meet the expectations of clients and had a clear idea on the type of lighting to be installed and where it should be installed. The base-build lighting originally installed by the developer used suspended luminaires in the offices and corridors to achieve the requirements of LG7 — but it was not in keeping with the vision of St James’s. Facilities specialist Wye Consultants met the requirement for ceiling brightness impression using Mellow flush luminaires with Grid Lens micro-pyramid glare controller to produce a combination of direct and indirect lighting with no glare. Around 400 Mellow units have been installed.
