The capability of multi-service chilled beams (MSCBs) to use chilled water at the relatively high temperatures of 14°C flow and 17°C return is highlighted by Trox as making the use renewable energy sources such ground water and heat pumps viable propositions. In addition, the requirement of MSCBs for a maximum of 2.8 m from the top of the floor slab to the underside of the soffit enables many buildingsgraham from before 1970 to be refurbished to modern standards, so their embodied energy can be retained rather than the building demolished.
