Panasonic inverter systems improve financial climate

Regular complaints at the Chester headquarters of The Funding Corporation that open-plan workspaces, offices and meeting rooms were either too hot or too cold are a thing of the past following the replacement of the life-expired air-conditioning systems with inverter-controlled Panasonic systems. The old system in the 2-storey building was inherited when The Funding Company moved into International House at Chester Business Park about four years ago and was beyond economic repair. Using Panasonic equipment supplied by PHM Distribution of Newcastle-under-Lyme, sub-contractors REF Air Conditioning replaced the old 3-pipe system with a new 2-pipe VRF system with a cooling capacity of 40 kW driving five 9 kW 4-way cassettes. In private offices and meeting rooms, REF installed four 5 kW inverter single-split systems (each with wall-mounted indoor units), two 6 kW systems, one 7 kW system and one twin split system driving two 5 kW cassettes. Not only does the new equipment deliver greater comfort, but costs will be reduced by using less energy for heating and cooling. Phil Gerrard, project manager for the building’s maintenance company, Norland Managed Services, says, ‘It was a good opportunity to reposition the indoor units for optimum comfort and at the same time to resize ten system to meet the overall demand for heating and cooling.’
