Powertherm CHP expected to achieve 80% energy savings
Combined heat and power installed by Shenton Group at its headquarters in Andover is expected to achieve energy savings of about 80%. Hot water from the Powertherm unit is used by unit heaters in the 1500 m2 workshop.
Shenton Group has applied to the Carbon Trust for a loan to cover the cost of the installation. These energy-efficiency loans are unsecured and interest free. There are no arrangement fees. Loans can be repaid over four years, and energy savings from installing the Powertherm unit more than cover repayments.
Powertherm units have a low-emission natural-gas engine in a pre-engineered package design that reduces up-front engineering, site design and installation costs.
All CHP components are in an acoustic enclosure with a noise output of 68 dB(A) at 7 m. Synchronising controllers enables a unit to be synchronised with a standby generator.
