EMCOR supports Breast Cancer Awareness Month

EMCOR UK added its support to the recent Breast Cancer Awareness Month by giving its staff at St Pancras International, and throughout the country, pink hard hats. 46 000 people pass through the station during an average working day — the same number diagnosed with breast cancer every year.

By donating £10 for every pink hard hat worn, the company raised thousands of pounds for Breast Cancer care. There were also fund-raising activities at sites across the country.

Diane Whyte of Emcor survived breast cancer and knows only too well how important being breast aware is. ‘I had no history of breast cancer in my family, so when I heard it was cancer I was in complete shock, but knew I had to just pick myself up and carry on. Working at EMCOR and keeping busy made it easier to cope. I survived — one of the lucky ones. I caught it early.’
