Balfour Beatty wins 3-year health-centre project

Balfour Beatty, contractor

Balfour Beatty Engineering services has been awarded a £6.7 million contract by Vinci to design and install M&E Services for a new primary-care and treatment centre in Birkenhead for Wirral NHS Trust. The 3-year project involves existing facilities being demolished and a new building constructed.

BBES is responsible for the enabling works, constructing a new plant room to serve the existing estate and the full M&E services for a new 5-storey 11 000 m2 health-centre facility.

Services will include women’s health, physiotherapy, mental healthcare, podiatry, imaging and community-based GP services.

IHP, a joint venture between Vinci and Sir Robert McAlpine, is the appointed contractor under the P21 process headed by Vinci.
