One of two recent contracts for Kershaw Mechanical Services is The Forum at Southend-on-Sea.

Two services contracts with a combined value of about £7 million have been won by Kershaw Mechanical Services. They are for the new Discovery Academy at Stoke-on-Trent, worth about £2 million, and for The Forum in Elmer Square, Southend-on-Sea, worth close to £5 million.

Discover Academy will accommodate up to 1350 pupils aged 11 to 18 in a 2-storey building replacing Edensor High School & Technology College and Mitchell High School. Services include full plant room, underfloor heating, air conditioning and a boiler heating system. Kershaw will also produce the fully co-ordinated CAD drawings to encompass all services, incorporating anti-clash technology.

The Forum development of 9450 m2 will consist of an integrated public and academic central library, children’s library and play area, a modern teaching resource for the University of Essex, together with a new home for the Focal Point Gallery, a café, lecture theatre with over 200 seats and a large outdoor LED screen for showing cultural events.
