RDM Electrical & Mechanical Services has won a £5 million contract for the Capital Quarter student accommodation project in Cardiff. The project has 580 units and is due to be completed in July 2017. RDM is working in partnership with VINCI Construction UK.

The development comprises a mix of studio and cluster accommodation in two separate blocks around a central courtyard. The accommodation is opposite and within easy access of the University of South Wales’s creative-industries Atrium campus.

Capital Quarter is a 3.3 ha mixed-use development in Cardiff City Centre. It will include offices, hotels, student housing and education uses.

Dave Kieft, director and co-owner of RDM, said, ‘The Capital Quarter is a fantastic development, and we are obviously very pleased to have won the contract to provide the electrical and mechanical engineering work for the student accommodation.

‘We have been doing substantial work over recent years on student accommodation projects, such as with the new Swansea University Bay Campus, and our expertise in this area has enabled the company to secure more and more of these types of projects’
