Stokvis Modupak heats inspection pits in rail maintenance depot
The vast inspection pits at Network Rail’s Tyseley depot in Birmingham are now heated by a Modupak R40 series boiler arrangement from Stokvis Energy Systems installed in place of redundant boilers. The depot has facilities for overhauling and repairing locomotives.
Following a number of site meetings and discussions between Keith Howard of Stokvis and Network Rail’s senior asset engineer Richard Upton, the requirements were assessed and the heat load for the new boilers determined.
The Modupak skid arrangement comprised three R40/150 boilers, associated flow and return pipework etc., and the boiler pumps — all in the same space as the redundant boilers.
The kit was installed by the Staffordshire office of George Birchall Ltd.
