Birmingham contractor takes green living to new heights

Birmingham building-services provider JS Wright has won the £1.1 million contract to fit out the 10-storey Atlanta Boulevard low-energy housing scheme, being built in association with Community Housing Association. The work includes 110 m2 of solar-thermal panels to serve two thermal stores that will contribute to the heating and hot-water requirements of the 98 rented, private and shared-ownership apartments. Their installation is more than halving the boiler capacity required — to just 400 kW. JS Wright is also installing all the standard water and heating systems, including energy-efficient centralised hot-water services and boosted cold water, along with extract ventilation, sanitation and above-ground drainage services.
