GE advances the technology of lighting using LEDs

GE Lighting now offers LED lighting fittings providing highly stable warm-white light from a single material — without mixing colour sources. The light is said to be comparable to the glow from a soft-white incandescent lamp. The Vio range uses a 405 nm violet chip as its base with a multi-phosphor to convert the violet light into visible white light. Using a single material avoids the variable deterioration that occurs with multi-source products. These light sources have a rated life of 50 000 h, providing a payback on investment in just two years. There are currently 12 products in the Vio range.
