Atlantic Boilers supplies biofuel boilers for Stockport College

Atlantic Boilers, biofuel, biomass, boiler

Two dual-fuel bio-fuel/natural-gas condensing boilers have been supplied by Atlantic Boilers to heat a new workshop and laboratory of Stockport College. Each boiler is rated at 530 kW, and they are supported by a 1160 kW natural-gas high-efficiency boiler. The control system ensures that the bio-fuel boilers meet most of the heating load.

The bio-fuel is similar to fuel oil and is stored in two underground tanks at 5°C. It passes through a preheat tank in each boiler before reaching the burner.

The system was specified by Operon of Manchester and installed by Mitie Northwest.
