Ameon looks forward to an expanding workload
Recent contract gains at Ameon, a building-services engineering company based in Lancashire, have led to increased staff numbers, with the creation of 45 permanent jobs — and more to come. Recent contract gains worth over £20 million have necessitated expansion ahead of projects. The recently acquired electrical business Electrical Installations North West Ltd has also increased the workforce, with the addition of 10 new positions for electricians, bringing the group increase in new jobs to 55.
MediaCity in Salford, several contracts for BAE Systems and a tranche of work on the Government’s Building Schools for the Future programme are among the current workload. Projects for 2011 could see more jobs created next year as the company looks to surpass its turnover target of £23 million.
Managing director Robin Lawson said, ‘Whilst we hear depressing news about the economy almost every day, we’re proof that there should be plenty of optimism about future growth potential, particularly in the construction and building-services sectors.
‘We might be better placed to buck the trend because of our expertise in the design and installation of renewable-energy systems on construction projects of all sizes, but we are also noticing increased requirement for our core electrical and mechanical services and our utilities infrastructure contracting services, so there’s plenty of scope in the market for companies with the right skills mix.’
