Ameon joins motor sport with renewable fuel

Building-services company Ameon has moved into motor sport with the sponsoring of a team in the Time Attack series. The car, driven by Rob Cowling, is a turbo-charged Mitsubishi Evo 7 using renewable bio-ethanol fuel — one of the few cars in the series using this fuel.

Rob Cowling is being instructed by the current British Touring Car Championship leader Matt Neal.

The team is called Ameon racing. Robin Lawson, managing director of Ameon, explains, ‘The development of Ameon Racing is a logical extension of our business, particularly as this car will compete using environmentally friendly fuel. We felt it was the right time to get involved to provide another vehicle for the projection of our brand values, which are about innovation, technology and skill.

‘In Rob Cowling we have an excellent driver, which is competing in the “Pro” category within Time Attack. He’s an accomplished competitor. He’s also based in the north west in Macclesfield, so reflects our development and continued investment in the region.’
