Weatherite helps major station meet growing demand

Weatherite, Weatherite Building Services, contractor

Weatherite Building Services has designed and supplied a new air-conditioning system and new mechanical services for the new Hinterland building that is part of the major refurbishment of Birmingham New Street Station. This station is used by over 140 000 passengers a day — more than double the number it was designed for when it was last refurbishment during the 1960s.

The new building will facilitate the removal of St Stephen’s House, an unsightly tower block overlooking the station.

WBS specified and installed Daikin under-ceiling air-conditioning units and a VES air-handling unit, along with all associated ductwork, as well as hot- and cold-water services and sanitary ware.
