Descaling heating and cooling plant

Kamco, descaling

Descaling specialist Kamco has introduced the C40 tank-mounted pump for the chemical removal of hard-water and corrosion deposits from cooling circuits, boilers, water heaters, heat exchangers and pipework. The Scale breaker C40 is built of acid-resistant materials and has an integral 39 l tank, in which chemicals are safely contained during operation.

A vigorous flow rate is key to effective descaling. With a maximum flow rate of 100 l/min, the C40 removes debris quickly and efficiently — reducing downtime.

A built-in flow-reversing device speeds up descaling and can enable almost completely blocked circuits to be cleared. After descaling, it is usual to flush equipment with fresh water, so the C40 incorporates a water-inlet connection and 3-port dump valves for purging any debris to waste.

The C40 weighs 22 kg. It has 75 mm wheels and an integral carry handle, so it can easily be transported by one man and used in any plant room — even when access is difficult.

Kamco also makes a complete range of inhibited descaling chemicals, which change colour when exhausted or neutralised. Guidance notes for most descaling applications are available from the company’s web site, and further knowledgeable assistance can be obtained by telephone.
