Daikin Applied chiller sets new standards in operating efficiency

Daikin Applied, Chiller, air conditioning

Daikin Applied (UK)’s EWWD-VZ inverter screw water-cooled chiller achieves an EER of 5.7 at full load and an ESEER of up to 8.5 at part load. These chillers are compact and have a 40% smaller footprint, as well as offering a low-noise solution.

Single-compressor models have cooling capacities from 450 to 1100 kW at nominal Eurovent conditions. Larger dual-compressor dual-circuit models have cooling capacities of 1200 to 2100 kW. Hot water at up to 65°C can be produced.

The reduction in size is due to a new single-pass counterflow condenser and an oil separator integrated into the condenser shell.

The control panel can be removed to enable the chiller to pass through doorways less than 900 mm wide.

These chillers incorporate Daikin Applied’s VVR (variable volume ratio) technology, which optimises performance by adjusting the discharge pressure of the compressor to the condensing pressure, eliminating under- and over-compression.

Noise levels at a distance of a metre are 81 dB(A) at full load and 66 dB(A) at part load.

Automatic switching to a back-up generator makes these chillers well suited to data centres.
