Off-site manufacture slashes project time
Off-site manufacture of building-services equipment is enabling SES Engineering Services to turn around a 16-month school project in just six months. The Prism services is saving 1000 man hours on the site of Ingleby Manor Free School in Stockton, where SES is working on an £11 million scheme with main contractor BAM Construction.
As BAM’s team commenced construction, SES Prism not only manufactured bespoke combined mechanical and electrical modular units but also produced a plantroom skid that was fully installed in the building’s external ground-floor plant room, well before the engineer’s arrival on site.
The school, in partnership with The Schools Partnership Trust, has been operating out of temporary accommodation and has 210 students on roll, increasing to 750 over the next five years. The new building will be completed in time for the autumn term.
The complete range of services being provided by SES include IT, fire alarms, access control, ventilation, insulation, BMS, direct-expansion cooling and underfloor heating.
