Briggs & Forrester wins £6.8 million contract at University of Warwick

Briggs & Forrester

Briggs & Forrester Engineering Services has won a £6.8 million contract to provide M&E services for the new 6-storey Mathematical Sciences building at the University of Warwick. The work also includes upgrading the existing energy centre to support the new and existing facilities.

The new building has a roof-level centralised plantroom. Two central cores will run through the building to accommodate ancillary areas, WCs and lifts. A large central atrium will bring a focal point to the design of the building.

The new building has dedicated M&E plantrooms fed from the remote energy centre. There are embedded cooling pipes in the floor slabs and cast-in services for electrical systems.

Each floor has distributed M&E services throughout the raised access floor — including small power, lighting, displacement ventilation and pipework services. Other systems include rising busbars, smoke ventilation, BMS and underfloor heating. Work is due for completion in July 2018.
