Underfloor heating gives warm welcome in community centre

Evenheat
Contributing to a warm welcome at this new community centre in a village near Durham is an Evenheat underfloor heating system
Evenheat underfloor heating will serve the community centre of a former mining village near Durham. Sacriston Community Centre is being built in two phases, the first covering the main building. The centre is built around the existing bowling green and will form the heart of the village, offering a wide range of social and sporting facilities. The new building replaces an earlier one opened in the early 1960 by actress Wendy Craig, who spent her childhood in Sacriston. The underfloor heating system was designed by consultants Taylor Design Partnership. It serves the main hall, the entrance hall (which doubles as a social area) and the kitchen — a total or around 200 m2. It was installed by H. Malone & Sons of Gosforth. To maintain close control of floor temperatures, floor-temperature sensing thermostats have been installed to permit the setting of maximum and minimum limits for floor temperature. This is a useful function for areas with wooden floors, which can be protected by an upper limit. Other areas can have a lower limit to ensure the floor surface is always warm. Phase 2 will see the development of the sports and outdoor facilities, including parking.
