Fagerfult lighting fittings with a full Ex-Or control system contribute to the energy efficiency of the new southern headquarters of Defra.

Fagerhult Lighting UK is the sole supplier for interior lighting at the new southern headquarters of the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs. Building 33, as it is known, is designed by architects Shepard Robson and incorporates wind turbines and state-of-the-art materials to help achieve a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating.

Fagerhult contributed to the overall efficiency of the building with the installation of Light Loop luminaires with T5 lamps and a full Ex-Or control system providing daylight sensing and individual switching of luminaires.

Office interiors use Light Loop luminaires in a uniform distribution, but mounting required non-standard accessories. Fagerhult worked closely with Haden Young and TP Consult to develop an extended couplet with through wiring to provide a plug-and-play system that was easy to install. A special solution was required to bring power to the fittings from the exposed concrete slab, so the rod suspension was modified to house a 7-core cable.
