Ability lands Dublin Airport contract

Ability Projects
Heating and cooling for the new terminal at Dublin Airport will be provided by Ability FCUs with EC motors

Ability Projects is supplying nearly 300 4-pipe fan-coil units for the new Terminal 2 at Dublin Airport. They a mixture of Evolution horizontal Trojan and vertical Neptune units with cooling capacities from 0.7 to 6.5 kW and heating from 0.5 to 5.0 kW. Operating noise level is set at NR35.

The new three storey terminal has an area of 75 000 m2.

The Neptune units are encased in white Plastisol enclosures with white grilles, and the Trojan units are installed in false ceilings.

All units are being supplied with free-issue Cylon controls, DC speed controllers and 24 V transformers — all fitted by Ability — along with special coils and 28 mm drain connections.

The Evolution units use EBM-papst electronically commutated motors which can reduce electrical input by 50 to 75% at a typical duty point. A typical 2-fan unit will draw 60 W when powered by EC motors compared with around 210 W with AC motors.
