SES wins M&E contract for Greenwich civic headquarters

SES starts work on the M&E contract for the new civic headquarters of Greenwich Council in February 2010.

The £11 million M&E contract to complete the services installation of Greenwich Council’s new civic headquarters in Woolwich has been awarded to the London and south-east division of SES. M&E work is due to start on site in February 2010 and last for 12 months. The total cost of the 7-storey, 18 000 m2 building will be in the region of £57 million.

Derek Joiner, divisional direction for the region, comments, ‘A large part of this job will be prefabricated off site. As well as meeting the green objectives of the client, the benefits of prefabrication are now widely recognised throughout the construction industry — improved installation periods, quality, site safety and reduced waste.’

Areas identified for off-site modularisation include under-floor modules, risers, pump skids, plantroom skids and modular wiring.

The building will be operational in mid-2011. Facilities will include an integrated services centre, customer contact centre, Woolwich Library and the new Greenwich Gallery with meeting space for up to 200 people.
