Recolight welcomes extension to WEEE collection time

Recolight has welcomed an amendment to the Environmental Permitting Regulations for England and Wales that allows collection points to store WEEE (waste electrical and electronic equipment) until collection bins are full, rather than the current limit of three months.

Recolight CEO Nigel Harvey said, ‘This news is a major development for the lighting industry and is greatly welcomed by Recolight, which has been lobbying for this change for the past year. The current 3-month time span imposes unworkable restrictions on our 900 collection points, which means containers often have to be emptied regardless of the quantity of lamps which have been collected.’
