Self-cleaning option reduces cassette running costs by 30%

Daikin, air conditioning, cassette, self cleaning

Upgrading existing Daikin Roundflow cassette air-conditioning units with a self-cleaning filter panel can reducing running costs by up to 30%, amounting to about £150 a year for a 12.5 kW cassette that would normally cost about £500 a year to run. Such a reduction in running cost amounts to a reduction in CO2 emissions of about 620 kg a year. This technology is also available for new Roundflow cassettes.

The system reduces the resistance to airflow that is normally associated with a standard filter as it becomes blocked over time. A special rounded filter rotates for 10 minutes every day over a suction head that removes dust and stores it in a special receptacle. A light indicates when the receptacle needs to be emptied, which is achieved by inserting a vacuum-cleaner extension nozzle supplied with the self-cleaning kit into a normally sealed port in the panel.

The self-cleaning panel can be retrofitted to any split, Sky Air and VRVIII Roundflow cassettes produced before 2010 by replacing the drain pan, PCB and capacitor with the equivalent of the latest 2010 cassette. The old drain pan can be reused following a simple modification.
