SES wins major contract for Kings Cross Central site

SES, contractor

SES has been appointed building-services contractor for Building R4 of the new Kings Cross Central development in London. This 14-storey social-housing development will comprise two main cores with clusters of apartments surrounding each. There will be 117 apartments in all, two commercial units at ground level and a private courtyard space.

Working with Carillion Construction, the London and south-east division of SES will be responsible for designing and installing M&E services on the first residential building on the scheme. This multi-million M&E project is expected to get underway this summer for completion early in 2012.

Divisional director Derek Joiner explained, ‘A fundamental part of our delivery on this project will be the early engagement and use of our off-site prefabrication facility SES Prism to give us total control over timings, quality and costs of the programme from the outset.’

The 67 acre site is next to Kings Cross railway station and will comprise nearly 750 000 m2 of mixed space, 46 000 m2 of retail outlets, 450 000 m2 of office space and 2000 new homes.
