Panasonic introduces KNX compatibility

Panasonic, air conditioning

Panasonic’s Etherea air-conditioning range is now available with a KNX interface. All Etherea models (MKE), both split and multi-split, can now be compatible with building-automation systems that help manage business premises and homes remotely.

The Etherea intelligent air-conditioning system can respond to changing room conditions, including the presence and absence of people. Adjusting air temperature and airflow according to circumstances can reduce heating and cooling costs by up to 40%.

KNX compatibility is provided by the IntensisBox PA-AC-KNX-1 installed in an indoor unit and which connects to a special port in the outdoor unit.

Multiple devices and Etherea units can be controlled remotely. In addition to basic functions such as on/off, fan speed and temperature selection, there is a range of additional features.

• Power function mode to provide a feeling of more rapid cooling.• Economy function mode to achieve extra energy savings.

• Temperature control.

• Window operation.

• Presence sensing.

• Sleep mode, so a timer can stop the indoor unit after a set time.

The gateway includes four binary inputs to perform functions by external signals directly to the air-conditioning unit or any device connected to the KNX automation system.
