BSRIA introduces certification body

BSRIA, certification

BSRIA has launched a new certification body, BSRIA Cert, to provide dedicated product-certification services for building services and construction. The new company will provide schemes to help manufacturers and suppliers to differentiate products based on performance. It will also provide expert guidance for specifiers and designers.

The first schemes will be for weather louvres and pressure-independent control valves (PICVs).

The certification schemes will combine product testing (already a core BSRIA service) factory production control auditing and practical product classification. Schemes and guidance are also geared to helping designers and specifiers understand the key performance criteria for product selection.

Certification manager Chris Marney explains, ‘BSRIA Cert’s mission is to lower the buying risk for specifiers to enable confident, value-based product selection. This is also good news for manufacturers and supplier, who can operate on a level playing field and see innovative product designs adopted more quickly.’
