J S Wright design engineer wins major industry accolade

JS Wright, contractor, Alfred Manley

James Owen, a young design engineer with building-services provider J S Wright, has been highly commended for the Alfred Manley Management Awards, which is awarded by the Building Engineering Services Association. This national award celebrates the achievements of young engineers who are judged to be capable of progressing to a senior role within building-services engineering. He completed his higher-level apprenticeship with the company last year.

He joined the Aston head office in 2011 and is on a course at Coventry University for a BEng degree in building-services engineering, which would make him the first former J S Wright apprentice to gain such a degree.

He is currently working on the designs for an 84-bed care home in Kenilworth and the Keybridge development in London of 441 luxury apartments.

Paul Millington, associate director and leader of the company’s academy, said, ‘James is an inspiration, not only to our younger engineers but also to all those across the building-services industry, and thoroughly deserves his success. As well as continuing to develop his engineering knowledge and management skills, he is always willing to encourage and guide the next generation of building-services engineers.’
