Trend launches next-generation monitoring and management solution

Trend Control Systems, BEMS, BMS, controls, energy monitoring, energy management

Trend Control Systems has announced the availability of its next-generation IQ Vision monitoring and management system. This successor to the 963 Supervisor integrates Trend controllers, third-party smart devices and Internet protocols into a certified software platform that is designed to manage buildings at an enterprise level, giving building owners and managers the ability to identify issues and optimise their systems.

IQ Vision provides graphical information to standard Internet browsers, and the system can integrate third-party devices using open protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, MBUS and KNX.

Other functions include centralised data logging, archiving, alarming, trending, master scheduling, system-wide database management and integration with enterprise software applications — all of which can be used for highlighting and investigating energy use in buildings.

IQ Vision is configured using the Niagara 4 interface, which uses HTML5 to provide an array of rich features that are perfectly in tune with the Internet of Things (IoT).

For security, built-in authentication requires users to choose strong LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) passwords that are then encrypted. There is a host of other security features.

The new system is backwards compatible and can import date from an existing 963 Supervisor, automatically converting existing schematics and library symbols to the HTML5 format, which can then be edited.

IQ Vision includes integrated network-management tools that support the design, configuration, installation and maintenance of interoperable networks with multiple IQ controllers networked together.
