German chancellor opens Viessmann’s innovation centre

Viessmann, boilers, heat pump, renewable energy, space heating

German chancellor Angela Merkel has opened Viessmann’s Technikum innovation centre, the group’s new €50 million technology research and development centre. It is the biggest single investment in the 100-year history of this family enterprise.

It is an interdisciplinary centre that will employ 100 people and up to 60 additional colleagues to develop prototypes and turn them into marketable products, as well as carry out admission and long-term tests.

CEO Prof. Dr Martin Viessmann (right in picture) said, ‘The Viessmann innovation centre will be our breeding ground for innovations related to the energy transition and in the area of digitalisation. It is where we are bundling development activities across the entire product engineering process — from the initial idea stage up to the start of production.’
